Myelin Cloud (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us") operates the Yi Yan English / SpeakUp platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL) and other applicable regulations.

By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

Account information: Name, email address, password (hashed), role (student or teacher), and language preference.

Profile information: For teachers — qualifications, certifications, hourly rate, bio, availability. For students — learning track, confidence stage, goals.

Usage data: AI practice session transcripts, audio journal recordings, skill scores, booking history, and session notes.

Payment information: Transaction records and payment method type. We do not store full card numbers or payment credentials — these are processed by WeChat Pay, Alipay, or Stripe directly.

Device & technical data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and crash logs collected automatically when you use the Platform.

Communications: Messages you send to our support team.

• To provide, maintain, and improve our services.
• To match students with appropriate teachers using your profile and quiz results.
• To process bookings, payments, and payouts to teachers.
• To personalise your AI practice sessions based on your skill level and track.
• To send service-related notifications (booking confirmations, reminders).
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• To comply with our legal obligations under Chinese law.
• To improve our AI models using anonymised interaction data (you may opt out by contacting us).

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following circumstances:

• Teachers: When you book a session, your first name, learning track, and session details are shared with the relevant teacher.
• Payment processors: Transaction data is shared with WeChat Pay, Alipay, or Stripe as necessary to complete payments.
• AI providers: Your practice session inputs are processed by our AI provider to generate responses. Inputs are not retained by the AI provider beyond the session.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by Chinese law, court order, or government authority.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred to the successor entity.

Storage location: Your personal data is stored on servers located within the People's Republic of China, in compliance with PIPL data localisation requirements.

Security measures: We implement industry-standard security including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, JWT token authentication, and access controls limiting who can access your data.

Retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active, plus up to 3 years after closure as required for legal and tax compliance. Anonymised usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

Under the Personal Information Protection Law, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Portability: Request transfer of your data to another service provider.
• Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.
• Restrict processing: Object to certain uses of your data.

Our Platform is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us immediately at privacy@yiyanenglish.com and we will delete the account.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
