By creating an account or using any part of the Yi Yan English platform (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Myelin Cloud (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd. ("Company", "we", "us"), a company registered in the People's Republic of China.
The Platform is intended exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from or provide services to persons under 18. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account.
You must provide accurate and complete information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at legal@yiyanenglish.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
One person may not maintain more than one active account. Accounts are non-transferable.
Yi Yan English provides an English learning platform and structured learning programme, currently comprising:
We are a technology platform, not an educational institution. We do not issue academic certificates or diplomas. The Platform is in active development; additional features may be introduced over time and will be governed by these Terms upon release.
Our AI practice features are powered by third-party artificial intelligence technology. AI-generated content:
We continually monitor and improve AI output quality but cannot guarantee it is always accurate or appropriate.
Sessions are booked individually at rates set by Yi Yan English. Pricing is determined by the platform and displayed clearly at the time of booking. There is no mandatory subscription required to book sessions.
Booking confirmation: A booking is confirmed once both the student and teacher have agreed to the scheduled time. You will receive a confirmation notification.
Cancellations & rescheduling: Cancellation and rescheduling policies are set out in our Refund Policy. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a cancellation fee as described in that policy.
Payment processing: Integrated in-platform payment processing will be introduced in a forthcoming update. Currently, payment arrangements are communicated to you at the point of booking. Once payment processing is live, supported methods will include WeChat Pay (微信支付), Alipay (支付宝), and international bank cards. All prices are inclusive of applicable Chinese VAT.
Teachers are independent contractors, not employees of Yi Yan English. We verify teacher credentials but do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any individual teacher's services.
Teacher profiles: Teachers set their own availability, specialisations, and session types. Session pricing is determined by Yi Yan English, not by individual teachers. Profile information is provided by the teacher and we do not independently verify every detail.
Attendance: Once a session is confirmed, both student and teacher are expected to attend on time. Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension.
Reviews: You may leave honest reviews of completed sessions. Fraudulent, defamatory, or incentivised reviews are prohibited and will be removed. Teachers may not solicit or offer rewards in exchange for positive reviews.
Off-platform arrangements: Arranging sessions or payments outside the Platform in order to bypass the platform's booking and payment system is prohibited and may result in account termination.
You agree not to:
Violations may result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, legal action.
All Platform content — including software, design, curriculum structure, and matching systems — is owned by Myelin Cloud (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd. and protected by Chinese and international intellectual property law.
Teachers retain ownership of their original lesson materials. Students retain ownership of content they create (written responses, session notes shared with us). By submitting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and improve our services.
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. We comply with the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL).
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Teacher-student compatibility, learning outcomes, and fluency improvements depend on many factors including individual effort and consistency. We make no guarantees about the speed or extent of any learner's progress.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF EARNINGS OR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms, or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time from settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Pre-paid amounts for booked sessions not yet delivered will be refunded in accordance with our Refund Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the competent people's court in the jurisdiction of our registered address.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
